This is my first of 3 pieces due for my art project of a "theme series", inspired by my interest in the French and Indian War. My theme is Native American Retaliation, both ancient and modern day. This is a firece Mohawk warrior, who fought bravely along with their British allies against French-allied tribes and the French during the French and Indian War from 1754 to 1763, where both England and France fought to prove their strength and the future life of their colonies of New France and New England on the early northeastern American continent. The French were better known for their friendship and father-son relationship with their Native American allies such as the Huron, Abenaki, Ottawa, Nasakpi, etc, tribes basically from modern-day Maine, north in Canada, as well as tribes such as the Shawnee in the Ohio Valley, where the war all started.
Both colonies thrived in America, but the main survival of New France depended on their fur trade with their Native American allies. The most powerful confederacy of the Northeast, the Iroquois, traded both with the English and French, playing them off one another. The Iroquois were made up of 5 tribes: the Onondaga, Seneca, Mohawk, Onieda, and Cayuga...and later six nations when they adopted the Susquehanna in modern day Pennsylvania. This powerful confederacy claimed their alliance with both New France and New England, until the tension between the two developed, as they had constantly done since the mid 1600's. Both New France and New England claimed the Ohio Valley. The English saw it as an expansion of their farming land, the French saw it as their connecting route between the great lakes in Canada, down the Mississippi River to their settlement of New Orleans. Here the first shots against the other rang out, which started The French and Indian war, and also the Seven Year's War in Europe, and they even fought in Africa and India. Many professional historians consider this the first world war, before WWI.

The English for a period of the war fought without Native allies, unlike the French that used their Native allies to their advantage. Only until when needed, did the English ask for an alliance with the Iroquois Confederacy to help fight New France and the Native allies. They realized they couldn't win without skilled armed warriors who could fight and kill so easily in the dense forests, versus their default European-style of fighting lined up in open fields. Many historians believe if the English did not create an alliance with a Native tribe, especially the most powerful of the Northeast, England possibly could have easily lost the war. This drawing symbolizes the fury of the skilled native warriors who fought against each other and the Europeans during the French and Indian War, and in drawing a Mohawk warrior, symbolizes the true power the Iroquois had of the Northeast, even over both the European colonies. Only until the American Revolution, where the bands of tribes within the Confederacy where confused whether to fight with the American colonists or keep their loyalty to the English, did the Iroquois weaken and eventually break down to nothing.
In the anger of Native Americans...who lose no matter what the outcome of white conflicts..and this brave Mohawk warrior fought bravely, when the forest ran red with blood during the British, French, and Indian War.

I don't care what people say about Mohawks, I'm proud to be one! The Seneca were the strongest, though. The Iroquois condederacy were mainly neutral to everyone, minding theri own business, until the War for Independance. Good detail with the feathers!
